Swankified and Scarecrow

Minor Wicked spoiler for the musical, though really, if you made it up to the scene with Fiyero and Elphaba with the Lion cub without picking up on the motiff, then shame on you. Shame, I say.

I like the musical so much better than the book. Maybe I'm just shallow (genuinely self-absorbed and deeply shallow), but I like happy-ish endings better than "and by the time she was twenty-six-ish, Elphie was paranoid and reclusive, and had absolutely no closure in her life, and was far gone enough to think a random walking scarecrow was the man she had had an awkward but passionate affair with." The book may have been more gritty and realistic, but I like my happy, peppy musicals, thankyouverymuch. I even like Fiyero better in the musical (in the book, I was quite surprised to see him again, because he always seems sweet but bland). I'll take swankified and Dancing Through Life, that I will. And the fact that Norbert Butz, despite (or quite possibly because of) his unfortunate name) is completely and utterly adorkable.

I think I'm getting the hang of my tablet. Now if I can just work on my backgrounds...
