MA Superheroes pg 12 -sample- by xanykaos MA Superheroes pg 12 -sample- by xanykaos
So a script I've had for a while that I've been meaning to do samples of. And while I'm having fun with the Rogues/Supergirl story, I figured eight pages set in the same location with the same characters isn't the best way to stretch my drawin' muscle which, it must be admitted, is in desperate need of stretchin'. And I really need to start working from real scripts by other people, instead of just drawing out of my head. I loved the actions the writer thought up here.

Hawkeye and Blonde Phantom (yeah, I don't know either), Marvel Comics, as well you know. Though I'd be lying if I said it didn't take serious effort to not draw Green Arrow and Black Canary.

Critique, as always, is greatly appreciated, since this is stuff that goes into my portfolio, hopefully to be shoved under the nose of any editor/writer/artist who sits still too long in the wrong spot at the next con I go to.

love it!
Man, I do not miss taking perspective seriously. You pull it off nicely here. Only thing I'm kinda ehh about in terms of that is in the fourth panel: is it just me or is Blonde Phantom uber tall in this shot? Or standing on something? The coffee guy in the last panel is small and standing on something.

Content: Diner looks great. Great job with the donut glass-holder thingy. Barstools are great. Things needed: silverware in the second panel. And one of my pet peeves is lonely streetlamps. This may be a personal issue, but I always want to see newspaper stands or trashcans chained up to them.

Wonderful expressions and nice hands!

lol Hawkeye's boots
!!!! BLONDE PHANTOM!!!! She was a main character in She-Hulk comics duing like, the 90's. I loved her.

Your backgrounds are great. I have no idea what's going on but everyone looks pissed off though.
Perhaps a subjective opinion, but I find myself preferring the panels where the vanishing point isn't above the characters' heads. Especially in these scenes where there are so many lines following those lines, almost as if they're sitting on the heads, or weighing them down. Those looking-down panels just seem... a little crushed. A little stifled. Then again, these are also the panels in which the characters are cropped a lot. Perhaps those two are conspiring to create that heavy, cramped feeling.

Also, the dude's arrows seem tiny. BUT what do I know? Awesome to see you still hard at work! (Miss ya!)
I love the donut face. Is she supposed to be stealing Hawkeye's spot though? It looks like they're going through a really dull stakeout. Overall, it looks great, and the only thing I can see is that there's something about the curves around (above and below) the door in the first panel that make it feel off-kilter. Most of it may be just the heavy black curve going between the tops of the doors--it curves down more on the left. Otherwise it feels clean and very clear, and the panels have a really nice sense of perspective and depth.

Looks very nice. However I don't know what this is about. She looks upset about the donut and I really don't know why.
On the other hand is always cool to see superheroes turning up in everyday places. You don't expect to see them at a cafe, so it becomes a contrast in it self.
